2 DAYS IN JINJA - Overview
Tweet to @WazalendoSJinja sits along the northern shores of Lake Victoria, near the source of the White Nile. The town is approximately 81 kilometres (50 mi), by road, east of Kampala and situated in the eastern region of Uganda.
Jinja had the second largest economy in Uganda and was formally nicknamed the industrial area capital. In the past, factories chose Jinja as their base because of the nearby electric power station at the Owen Falls Dam.
Today, Jinja is commonly regarded as "the adventure capital of East Africa" due to the very many activities in town that one can engage in, especially for tourists. Local attractions include white-water rafting, the "Source of the Nile", Bungee Jumping, craft shops, and the Nile brewery.
Day by day
Day 1:
You will be picked up from your hotel and transferred to Jinja. On our way we will pass several plantantions growing tea, sugar and coffee as well as a number of vegetable and fruit markets. Before arriving in Jinja, we will make a stop at Mabira Forest where you'll have a guided walk and admire the local wildlife and vegetation.
We'll arrive in Jinja in time for lunch and will head straight to the Rolex Joint where you'll get to taste Uganda's best known street food served with fresh juices.
After lunch, we'll head straight to the Nile where you'll be able to see why Uganda is home to some of Africa's most unique and sought-after birds. Once we reach the Source of Africa's longest rive, you will get to see where the Nile starts its 6,500km journey to the Mediterranean Sea (Egypt). As we watch the sunset, you'll get to enjoy a Nile (beer) on the Nile. Afterward, we'll take a short drive to our accomodation for the evening.
Day 2:
After a nice breakfast, we'll start with a hald day of white water rafting, guests will have the option to upgrade to a full day in preferred.
In the afternoon, they'll be the option to participate in some more adrenalin pumping activities with bungee jumping and quad biking on offer.
Before we head back to Kampala they'll be an option to stop in town to visit the many craft shops for anyone wanting to buy souvenirs.
